The Outdoor Adventure Program at Camp Manyung is a low-cost activity program that provides an opportunity for Seniors to participate in outdoor adventure activities, whilst meeting new people in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The program is designed to provide new and exciting challenges in the outdoors , improving health and fitness and provide a fun and enjoyable social setting
Each month between October to April, a new activity program will be offered, based on the season and the feedback and interest of the group participants. You can book to participate for one month or as many months as you like. Places are limited to 24 participants per program.
Friendly and qualified YMCA Camp Leaders will facilitate the range of outdoor activities offered each month, including: Sea Kayaking, Tree Surfing Ropes Course, Archery, Geo Caching, Snorkle swimming and more!
At the end of each program, cup of tea and refreshments will be provided to enjoy a chat about the days adventures.
MONDAY 16th January 2016 Program: BAY DISCOVERY & SEA KAYAKING
We will meet at Mothers Beach, Mornington at 9am ready for a 9.30am start.
During the Sea Kayaking activity, participants will be taught the skills of how to safely paddle a double Sit-on-Top sea kayak with a partner. Once the basic skills are learnt, a short paddling journey along the coastline will follow for those interested.
Sea Kayaking is led by qualified instructors on the water and a small motorised support boat (IRB) is also provided for additional support. The actiivty will only take place in the right conditions, on flat water and with light winds.
In Bay discovery, the Camp Manyung 22ft Southwind boat is taken out into Port Phillip Bay. Our qualified coxswain teaches participants about the area and its environment, including boat safety, water quality, tidal movement and marine life.
If the conditions are not favourable for Sea Kayaking & Bay Discovery, an alternate activity porgram will be provided back at Camp.
The alternate activity program will involve a series of fun group initiative activities.
Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the activity.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the program?
Yes please bring your ticket on the day and arrive 15 minutes early for registration
What do I wear?
For Sea Kayaking and Bay Discovery please wear active clothing suitable for water activity including bathers, board shorts and rash shirt. Please bring a change of clothing to wear after the activity and beach towel, sunhat, sunscreen, sunglasses and beach/water shoes (optional).
What to bring?
BYO waterbottle, camera (optional), and personal items.
What happens if I dont like the activity?
You choose your own level of participation in any adventure activity offered
Is your program inclusive of people of all capabilities?
Yes indeed !! Specialised equipment is provided to enable people of all ablities to participate equally in the adventures offered. The friendly YMCA Camp leaders are flexible in their approach to ensure the best activity experience for each individual.
Is there age restrictions?
This program is designed for any person over the age of 60
What happens in the event of bad weather ?
Camp manyung will contact you if a decision is made to cancel the program. A notification will also be made on the Camp Manyung facebook page.
