Out of this World: then and now
Event Information
About this Event
From its dawn in the 1950s to the present day, the space age has left its mark on all aspects of Australian science and culture.
Join us in conversation with our out-of-this-world guests, each with their own unique connection to space.
Mike Dinn, former director of the Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex. Dinn’s firsthand account as the deputy director at Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station during the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing is captivating.
Dr Brad Tucker, astrophysicist and cosmologist at the Australian National University. Dr Tucker continues to survey our universe today.
Facilitator: Dr Erica Seccombe, lecturer at the ANU School of Art and Design and Canberra-based experimental visual artist. Dr Seccombe uses frontier scientific visualisation software.
Refreshments are included and available from 5 pm. Following the discussion will be a viewing of original records from the National Archives’ collection.
Tickets: $10 or $9 for NAA Members.
