Description
Colonel Light Gardens Primary School has created a film documenting our students' learning about World War One. The film was professionally produced with funding from a grant from the Federal Department of Veteran's Affairs, to commemorate the centenary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli in 1915.
This film involves our entire school community. Our school site was originally part of the Mitcham Army Camp, used for WWI training (including Light Horse) from 1915 to 1919, a significant training camp for South Australia. The camp extended through the majority of present-day Colonel Light Gardens.
The film is a beautiful method of permanently commemorating the ANZAC Centenary for Colonel Light Gardens Primary School, the local community and South Australia as a future historical piece, reflecting the significance of the school site to South Australia in WWI. The film will also provide a valuable community and educational resource.
We invite all families and friends of students and residents of our local community to come to the school to view a 30 minute screening of the film.
Please register for one of the screening times listed.
DVD copies of the film will be available for purchase after each screening. School families may pre-order a copy - information on pre-ordering will be in the school newsletter shortly.
