Heritage Festival 2017 - Walking Tour
Join Patrick Callaghan for a guided tour of the public buildings that have shaped Leichhardt. The tour will begin at the rotunda in Pioneers Park. Learn of some of the famous people buried there and learn where the Peace Memorial was originally located. Heads up Norton St. to explore the local churches, passing the once iconic Marlboro Theatre before arriving at the Methodist church built in 1888.
Proceed to All Souls Anglican church, built by Edmund Blackett’s son, Arthur in 1883, passing the Post Office on the way. As the tour continues learn about Leichhardt Town Hall, the School of Arts, Leichhardt Fire station and pass what was Leichhardt Petersham Technical College and the location of Leichhardt Stadium to one of Sydney’s oldest pubs, The Bald Faced Stag where the tour will conclude.
