Event description
Join John Neil and David Burfoot from The Ethics Centre as they explore the various dimensions of organisational culture and values.

About this Event

Whilst an organisation can be measured by its share price, financial accounts, brand reputation or even the non-financial value it contributes to its stakeholders; it is defined by its culture.

But culture has many dimensions and it is notoriously difficult to evaluate. One of the biggest challenges is that every organisation has a set of unofficial values, good and bad. We call these ‘shadow values’.

Shadow values are evidenced through actual behaviours and practices. In the way people treat each other, customers and partners; in how decisions are made; and in how work gets done. They are ‘implicit’, existing alongside or beneath the formally sanctioned values and principles, and they are expressed in different areas at different times.

Drawing on case studies from The Ethics Centre’s 30-year history of working with Australian organisations, including the shadow values in play at Cricket Australia following the ball tampering incident. John Neil and David Burfoot will share their insights on identifying and understanding the shadow values in your own organisation and how to create greater cultural alignment with your purpose and values.

Whilst this session applies to all People & Culture Leaders, please feel free to share the invitation with your Leaders in Risk and Compliance and Corporate Strategy.
