Event description

Description

The National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-22 recognises that an appropriate response is pivotal to a women's safety and support. With 1 in 3 women in Australia impacted by Domestic Violence, many organisations are now offering employees additional Domestic Violence leave to enable employees to address their personal issues or escape a violent situation.

Anti discrimination laws are now designed to protect these marginalised groups by promoting normative and behavioural responses to Domestic Violence to enable equal participation at work.

Looking at this topic using an organisational perspective, the key learning outcomes will include:

  • A practical understanding of family violence, its pervasiveness and impact
  • Awareness of the gendered nature and impact of family violence
  • The determinants that underpin family violence and violence against women
