Event description

Description

Clinical trials provide the highest quality evidence about the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. However, trials can only improve health outcomes if the results are implemented into clinical practice. ACTA have established an Impact and Implementation of CTN Trials Reference Group to maximise, and measure, the value of clinical trials to the community and the healthcare system, including consideration of how trials can be designed to optimise implementation of results into practice.

We are delighted to welcome our keynote speaker Professor Jeremy Grimshaw, an internationally leading implementation scientist whose research focuses on the evaluation of interventions to disseminate and implement evidence-based practice.

There will also be presentations regarding trials and implementation from the perspectives of policy-makers, research funders, and experts in implementation science, as well as work being undertaken by some networks to measure impact and enhance implementation. Workshops will explore elements of trial design and conduct that enhance ‘implementability’ as well as consider the role that networks may play in measuring implementation of trial results.

ACTA believe the forum is relevant to all who design and conduct clinical trials, as well as those who have roles to optimise uptake of evidence by the healthcare system.
