Event description

Description

Presenter: Associate Professor Adrian Bridge

This presentation provides an overview of the ARC project “Innovative procurement theories to optimise education outcomes per total cost of school facilities” that commenced in December 2016. The project aims to advance the body of procurement knowledge by developing a novel whole-of-life procurement decision-making framework to optimise educational outcomes per total cost of school facilities. This whole-of-life procurement decision-making framework is developed with significant input from various education departments and the private sector. The project will advance state-of-the art and Nobel prize-winning theories. It will also develop a new theory into implementable models in a cohesive framework, for the first time in an educational setting and across government and privately financed schools. It addresses the Productivity Commission’s call for schools to incorporate more rigour into decision-making about new infrastructure, and enable schools to build efficient, functional educational environments for the future. Furthermore, the value of the framework’s success in schools will be measured by comparing the contribution of schools’ facilities to educational outcomes against the total production and transaction costs.
