Opera at The Embassy - "Carmen"

By popular request, Opera Bites, Sydney’s favourite boutique opera company presents a matinee performance of fully costumed popular opera. As you step through the doors of this stunning heritage venue you’ll find yourself immersed in the world of operatic splendour.

Tickets are $50 (+booking fee) and include a 90-minute fully costumed show with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits. Un-allocated seating. Doors open 1.40 pm. Show starts 2.00 pm.

Saturday 13th August - "Carmen"

Escape to sultry Spain with everyone’s favourite Gypsy temptress. Be seduced by Bizet’s ravishing melodies as passions ignite and fates collide in this adaptation of one of the world's favourite operas.

Ex-corporal of Dragoons, Don José awaits his fate in a court of law. He addresses the jury (you!) and tells of how he was guarding a cigarette factory in Seville. There, he succumbed to the charms of the gypsy temptress Carmen. Allowing her to escape arrest, he abandoned his regiment (not to mention his hometown sweetheart, Michaela), and embarked on the life of a gypsy smuggler. Soon, Carmen tired of Don José and looked to the sexy bullfighter Escamillo who turned her head. Passion drove Don José towards an inexorable fate ...

The music and drama never fail in this fresh retelling of Bizet's famous opera. A fully costumed, engaging production, sung in English. Come, and be part of the action!

The show run-time is 90 minutes with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits available during the interval.

PLEASE NOTE: Entrance to the venue is via the doors on Regent Street. The Embassy Conference Centre is a flat 2-minute walk from Central Train Station. Car parking in the surrounding streets is extremely limited however can be more easily found on the UTS side of George Street. The nearest car parking building is Novotel Sydney Central Car Park in Thomas Street Haymarket.

 Is my ticket transferrable?

Generally, tickets are non-transferrable to other event dates, however may be transferred to another person. Whilst we will endeavour to transfer your booking to another event date, this may not be possible.   If in doubt, feel free to get in contact with us.  Is it ok if the name on my ticket doesn't match the person who attends?

We understand that plans can change.  We are very happy for you to pass your ticket on to a friend or colleague to enjoy on your behalf.
