David Hobbs, General Manager and Operations Director, Dead Ringer

With a background in Computer Science and Electronics in college, David Hobbs has been in hospitality since the age of 15, taking in the the experience of working in Liverpool, Manchester, Asia and in Melbourne, where he fell in love with Australia.

David experience includes bars such as Milk & Honey (London), Bulletin Place (Sydney), and Seamstress (Melbourne) as part of his journey, leading up to the opening of Dead Ringer in September 2015. As the Operations Director for the fledgling group, his role provides him with diversity and freedom with his keen interest lying where hospitality and technology intersects.

Dead Ringer have been early adopters of OpenTable in Australia and have eagerly explored new features and initiatives as they become available.

Nick Bowden, Restaurant Manager, Bistro Rex

At the "grand old age of 25", Nick had his quarter-life-existential-crisis moment about his corporate role, and ditched the bank job, to pursue his love of hospo.

Since he was 19, Nick's 13 years in hospitality include stints as a section waiter at Otto, helping open Neil Perry's Spice Temple in 2009, China Doll on the wharf, and as an Assistant General Manager in London's Hawksmoor, running a team of 148 in a 295 seat restaurant.

And as of 18 months ago, Nick and his partner are proud owners of the new Potts Point all day French Bistro, Bistro Rex.

Karen Swain, General Manager, Doyles on the Beach

Karen Swain has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Born in the UK & after leaving school spent 10 years working in the banking sector. Karen then moved into hospitality & managed pubs/restaurants for large UK corporate groups for the next 9 years. The next 2 years Karen held the position as National Operations manager for an E-Learning company that specialised in food safety training programs for the UK hospitality & care industry. After moving to Australia 10 years ago Karen was given the opportunity to join Doyles as the functions coordinator & was promoted to General manager at Doyles on the Beach 2 years later.

After stints in kitchens and front of house, Lisa found her home at OpenTable in San Francisco where she was able to combine her skillsets and passions into one career. Lisa is currently the OpenTable Vice President, APAC where she is responsible for launching and cultivating emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
