Event description

Description

How can we make our performances and rehearsals more accessible and inclusive?

Open Your Eyes is a comprehensive introduction to disability equality. Our innovative and interactive workshop will equip you with the tools to engage confidently with people with disability; to create environments of equality and authentic representation.

Our skilled facilitators are artists with disability or who are Deaf, who use their artistic and creative talents to illuminate complex issues of disability access and inclusion, dispelling fear through engaging deeply with participants.

Facilitated by Walter Kadiki and Leisa Prowd.

Walter Kadiki is a master of weaving signed poetry and visual vernacular into poetic performance. He is known for his profound and engaging signed poetry and storytelling that bridges cultures and is accessible to deaf and hearing audiences.

Leisa Prowd is an international dancer, performance artist and life model. She joined the inclusive theatre ensembles of the award-winning Rawcus Theatre Company in 2016, and the acclaimed Weave Movement Theatre Group in 2014. She is currently developing both solo and collaborative performances here and overseas.

NOTE:

The workshop is capped to 20 participants so please book early to reserve your place.
