Celebrate international Open Access Week. Deakin University Library invites you to a symposium on open scholarship, focusing on open access research and publication.
Join with other members of the education community to explore open access practices from the perspective of academics, researchers, and publishers.
Professor Anne Fitzgerald - Creative Commons Australia
Exploring how the Creative Commons licences work and how they are being used in Australia and overseas to enable open access for educational resources, research publications and data.
Anne Harvey – (via video conference) - Regional Sales Manager, Australia and New Zealand, Elsevier
Presenting Elsevier and other publisher’s initiatives on open access, covering the differences between Gold and Green open access, the effect of mandates and repositories and global trends including recent events in the United Kingdom.
Professor Christoph Antons - Chair in Law, Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University
Covering the importance of electronic rights in the internet age, their distinctiveness and the ability to negotiate separate rights to that of hard copy materials. He will discuss different considerations that apply to publication categories and point to the often considerable scope that publishing contracts provide for online use of material.
