Let’s create digital resources! - Enhance your skills in ICT

About this Event

The Japan Foundation, Sydney will offer five types of sessions for enhancing skills in ICT. Please take this opportunity to challenge yourself to use applications you have been hesitant to try, or if you have been wanting to try but felt too late to ask. We encourage you to try any sessions that look appealing or stir your curiosity after reading the session description. The sessions are structured so that the applications can be learned in just one session. Each session will be conducted online and run approximately 60-90 minutes. We look forward to your participation!

ICT Session 1 (60 min)

“Utilise online tools to create an interactive Class!”

In this session, you will learn how to create and use tools for an interactive class, allowing two-way communication between the teacher and learners. Mentimeter allows easy access to learners' feedback or comments. Nearpod allows teachers to verify learners’ understanding by uploading the lesson’s PPT on Nearpod and then featuring quizzes and or polls between the slides. By learning the basic functions of these two tools, we will create teaching resources applicable to the class. Master the use of these tools to expand students’ learning opportunities in class!

By Mami Saito, Senior Language Consultant

Create an account for the follow applications prior to the session:

  • Mentimeter
  • Nearpod

Each session will not be limited to learning about the ICT tools, however, there will be practical components of using the tool to develop sample resources. You will each be developing sample resources modelling a JPF resource or creating a resource that is appropriate for use in your class. Participants will be provided with all materials required to create the sample resource (e.g. images, audio, etc.).

While the sessions do not specify the school stage of intended learners, prepared sample resources will demonstrate target stage groups such as primary or junior secondary

After participating in the workshop, please re-create your resources to adjust your class and stage. Please be advised that the aim of this ICT session is primarily to focus on how to create digital resources using applications, rather than sharing classroom resources specifically for your class.

A certificate will be given to participants upon completion of a sample task during or after the session. You must submit your task in order to receive the certificate.
