We will discuss influence, and ways to be mindful of your own therapeutic philosophy so that it informs but does not dictate your approach.
About this event
Hypnotherapists offer therapeutic assistance to people who need help. The act of asking for help involves vulnerability, and the hypnotist must always be mindful of their own influences, filters and biases, and the potential for unequal power dynamics to emerge within the therapeutic encounter.
While a person cannot be made to do something against their will in hypnosis, this does not mean that the opportunity for persuasion and influence is not present in the therapeutic encounter. It is our job to be mindful of this, and to regularly negotiate therapeutic goals that are in keeping with the clients' intentions.
Having an understanding of these issues is essential for the health and wellbeing of client and practitioner alike.
This lesson is suitable for hypnotherapy students and practitioners alike, and the content is essential learning for anyone who practices in helping or healing professions.
Live attendance at this online training represents 1 CPD point for practitioner members of the Australian Hypnotherapists' Association.
