What’s it all about?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neuro-developmental disorder affecting many children. This learning activity will provide a sound overview of critical and current information about this condition. We will look at the clinical definition, as well as ways to work with children who have ASD that are inclusive, positive and focused on developing outcomes for the child.

Participants will be introduced to a range of strategies that help children with ASD to learn, including Applied Behaviour Analysis.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain understanding of how children with ASD may view the world and how this effects their behaviour
  • Gain understanding of a range specific tools to respond to children with ASD
  • Gain understanding of planning and considering the needs of children with ASD
  • Gain understanding of how children with ASD may experience emotions, thinking and social interactions
  • Gain understanding of the effects of comorbidly diagnosed conditions
