Online Caesarean Section Program: Wed April 15 + 22, 2026 at 6-9pm (ENG)

Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Melbourne, offers this two night Caesarean section (C/S) for first time parents who are booked to have their baby by C/S at the RWH, Melbourne.

If your care is transfered to another hospital during your pregnancy, your program booking will automatically be cancelled.

Please Note: If you are not having a planned C/S, do not book into this program. Our other childbirth education programs cover information on all modes of birth (vaginal, assisted, induction of labour & C/S).

This online, two- session program provides you and your support person with childbirth education in the comfort of your own home.

Over these two sessions, an experienced midwife will cover a range of topics such as:

• Signs of labour (in case labour commnces prior to booked C/S)

• Process of C/S birth, role of different health professionals at C/S, anaesthetics, medications, etc.
• Role of support person
• Approximate timeline of C/S birth and care in hospital
• Recovery after C/S birth
• Understanding breastfeeding
• Safe sleeping and settling
• Communicating with your baby
• Community supports for the family

Booking tips:

· Places are limited, so look early and book a program where you will be attending around 28-32 weeks pregnant. Programs fill quickly - don't delay.

· Use the name of the pregnant person when you book.

· You must provide your Royal Womens Hospital, Melbourne Medical Record Number to book. We will check you are booked to have your baby at the Women’s.

· A confirmation email will be sent by Eventbrite after booking.

Payments and Refunds

Each family is eligible for ONE ticket only. This ticket includes the pregnant person and their partner or support person

Medicare Card Ticket - Free when the pregnant person:

• is booked to birth as a public patient at the Womens hospital, Victoria
• has a valid Medicare card (or eligible for reciprocal rights)

Non Medicare Card Ticket - $450.00 when the person:

• is booked to birth as a private patient at the Womens hospital, Victoria

The fee is refundable if you cancel at least one week prior to the first class. Some private health funds may provide a rebate for the program, however, it is up to the participant to check with their own health fund.

Need to cancel or reschedule?

· If you need to cancel, please go to your booking on your Eventbrite page/website, and ACTION cancel. PLEASE remember to cancel to allow somebody else to take your spot.

· If you can’t make it to one of your booked sessions, we are unable to offer a “make-up” session for the one you missed. Written summaries are provided for the program.
