Event description
Calling out to performers aged under 26 to create wild, innovative and challenging theatre with award-winning director, Jackson Castiglione

About this Event

Don't miss out - register for ONLINE auditions.

Be part of an innovative collective of theatre-makers working in collaboration with Ensemble director Jackson Castiglione. Through weekly workshops and rehearsals, you will contribute your skills as a performer to devise and present original, risk-taking contemporary theatre. Open to artists aged 26 years and under - experience is not a requirement. We encourage anyone with an interest in making theatre, podcasts or screen content to audition. Take a look

Despite postponing onsite programs, the Platform Ensemble auditions will still proceed via an online process at the planned time this Saturday. We believe this can be a catalyst for transformation and creativity, in addition to ensuring the wellbeing of all involved.

The audition process will be across two stages:

Stage 1 will be a 20 minute interview and chat - there is no preparation required for this interview. This process is just about getting to know each other! We will discuss what the program has to offer, what you can potentially bring to the group and the type of content you are interested in making. We encourage performers to think outside the box, as we will be initially looking to focus on making online content such as video blogs and podcasts. For Stage 2 applicants will be asked to create a simple video themselves. This can be filmed on a phone, iPad, webcam or any recording device.

Following the interview, director Jackson Castiglione will email set tasks by 5pm Wednesday 25 March, which are to be completed by Friday 3 April. Successful applicants will be notified by 6 April with the intention of holding the first online meeting on 15 April, 4.30pm (subject to change).

This is a free program. Successful Ensemble members will be pursuing the creation of innovative online content. This could take the form of video diaries, YouTube channels, podcasts etc with a view of aiming to develop live performances later in the year.

DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS WITH AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR, JACKSON CASTIGLIONE

Jackson works to make contemporary theatrical performances, screen content and podcasts in collaboration with young people. His artmaking interests include developing conceptually rigorous ideas to realise highly original, interventionist and challenging performances.

Jackson loves working with interesting people who may or may not consider themselves performers or artists but offer something to stimulate and challenge our cultural, social and political ideas and assumptions.

Renowned for working collaboratively with young people, Jackson has partnered on projects with major cultural institutions such as the Arts Centre Melbourne, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne Festival, National Gallery of Victoria, Inter-Film Berlin, Federation Square, Arts House, Performance Space, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art and Next Wave Festival.

Jackson's artistic outcomes include award-winning documentaries and web series in collaboration with SBS2 and ABCtv.
