SAM'S STORY

Sam has a rare and severely life-changing condition known as CRPS which was caused by a DRUNK DRIVER. Through no fault of her own, she lives every day of her life in constant severe pain not relieved by any amount of pain killers. Sam currently takes over 23 tablets a day and has been left with a disability that mostly renders her bed-ridden. Sam is now also 100% dependent on crutches and a wheelchair for mobility.

WHAT IS CRPS?

CRPS is a poorly understood condition described as the most severe type of pain on the McGill Pain Index (even worse than the pain of child birth). It occurs when the nervous system and immune system malfunction, usually in a limb, as they respond to tissue damage from the trauma of an accident. The pain can only be likened to the sensation of being ‘burnt alive’. For more information, please visit: http://www.burningnightscrps.org/

WHAT WILL THE MONEY RAISED GO TOWARDS?

All funds raised will go directly to Sam and her family and will assist with:

  • Updated mobility equipment that will help provide Sam with increased independence, including a new wheelchair
  • The opportunity to take part in an extensive rehabilitation program being piloted overseas in 2018. Sam must overcome mental challenges of traveling, as well as the physical intensity of the lengthy 4-month program
  • Ongoing professional treatment and care for PTSD sustained by the trauma of the accident & CRPS.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT ON THE NIGHT?

We would love to see you there - but if you are unable to make and would still like to show your support via a donation, please visit the GoFundMe page we have set up on behalf of Sam to make a contribution. We thank you for your generosity!

Jaime Brock

Jaime is a lifelong friend of Sam's, and went through primary and high school with her since they were 5 years old.

Jaime's father, John, is a friend of the Lungu family and has MC'd a number of charity trivia nights for past students of Chevalier College where both Jaime and Sam attended.

John and Jaime are very excited and priveleged to be able to contribute to an improved quality of life for Sam, and we are hoping for a huge turnout of friends, family and the local community to rally together and show support for Sam in her time of need!
