Description

Presented by the CBCA in partnership with State Library of Queensland.
Join us for the official announcement of the 2018 CBCA Book of the Year Awards announced by local students. Meet this year’s award winning authors and illustrators from all over Australia.

The details:

  • The event will be in Auditorium 1, level 2, State Library of Queensland

  • Doors open 11.15 am

  • Proceedings start at 11.30am and should end around 1.00pm

  • Refreshments will be served and books on sale on The Qld Terrace after the event

  • Places are limited, so you MUST book a ticket

  • Please bring your ticket with you to the event (in hardcopy or on your phone) as this will assist in quicker entry to the venue.

  • This event is open to all ages - children welcome (recommended for Year 4+)

CBCA Qld Branch Book Week dinner – Join CBCA Qld Branch in celebrating CBCA Book Week at The Greek Club, Edmonstone Street, South Brisbane on Friday 17 August from 6:30pm. The Greek banquet is $66 for CBCA members and $71 for non-members. A number of interstate authors and illustrators will be at the dinner and the Dame Annabelle Rankin Award for distinguished services to children’s literature will be announced. Spaces are limited. CBCA Book Week Day for Children and Teens at State Library of Qld on Saturday 18 August - from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Book Links, CBCA Qld branch and SLQ are partnering to deliver an exciting day for children and teens. There will be a free program of shortlisted authors and illustrators with presentations, readings and book signings.

Authentic Teen Voices A YA Panel featuring authors Charlie Archbold, Cath Crowley, Simmone Howell and Fiona Wood. Aimed at teens, but others welcome. Bookings

10:00 – 2:00pm (no bookings required)
Book readings, book signings and hands on activities with Lisa Shanahan, Ronojoy Ghosh, Lorna Hendry, Melissa Keil, Prue Mason, Chrissie Krebs, Peter Carnavas and Patrick Guest.

Hark! It’s Storytime! Discover the glorious fun and magic of picture books! Join Lisa Shanahan, for an energetic, interactive story time session, exploring Hark, It’s Me, Ruby Lee and Bear and Chook by the Sea, suitable for ages 5-8 years.

How to Journal like a Genius - A writing journal is like a small bird’s nest, an important place where tiny ideas grow and hatch. Discover the way keeping a journal can help a writer welcome crackling ideas and fresh new ways of seeing the world! With Lisa Shanahan, author of The Grand, Genius Summer of Henry Hoobler, suitable for ages 8-12 years.
