Office of the Industry Advocate | Meet the Buyer | Goods and Services

The role of Industry Participation Advocate (IPA) is to ensure local businesses leverage maximum opportunities from the State Government’s $3.8 billion annual spend in goods and services and through the Government’s portfolio of building and construction projects.

An important part of the role is to build the awareness across Government agencies about what South Australian companies have to offer.  One initiative to achieve this will be a series of Meet the Buyer events we have scheduled.

Following the success of our first Meet the Buyer event for the Building and Construction sector we are planning another two opportunities for local companies to meet face to face with senior buyers, project managers and procurement staff to present their capabilities and how they can assist government agencies meet their purchasing and contracting needs.  The feedback from the first event was this presented government staff with the opportunity to learn about products and services they were not previously aware which may be utilised effectively in State Government projects.

Government purchasing covers many areas of our economy including major projects, building and construction, goods and services and a range of advanced technologies.

Please note this is the first of two events. Details for both provided below. Option of registering for one or both available.

Meet the Buyer Event - Goods and Services

 For example this will include product and services for:

  • Property maintenance
  • Consultancy and advisory
  • Transport
  • Human resources and employment
  • Health and nutrition 

Meet the Buyer Event – Advanced Technologies and Creative Industries

3rd December 2013 8:30 am

For example this will include, among other things:

  • Information and communication technology
  • Energy and electrical products
  • Media and communications
  • Security


This isn’t about special treatment or a price preference for South Australian based companies; rather it is about opportunities recognising the important contribution local companies make to the South Australian economy.

Keep the date free if you or your business has an interest in knowing more about supplying goods or services to State Government agencies.

I would strongly encourage you to register your interest now as numbers will be limited. These events will be co-hosted by industry associations with the support of the Office of the Industry Advocate and other sponsors.
