Sat, November 26, 2016, 7:00 PM – 11:30 PM AEDT
This is a rare and beautiful banquette celebrating a vision for a wonderous and courageous Australia . Food is by the incomperable Martin Boetz (ex creator of Longrain Sydney and Melbourne) and will reflect the diversity of the producers that make up Australia's food culture.
It will be held in the creative gallery of the fine art exhibition, Of Beauty Rich and Rare by Maurice Goldberg and Matthew Aberline.
The exhibition forms the backdrop for a festival of events which asks: What is the vision of the future for our nation?
There will be drinks, canapes, music and a fine and exciting banquet that is beautiful, rich and rare.
The national anthem, Advance Australia Fair created a vision but have we lived up to its expectations?
It was written in 1878 and was adopted as our national anthem in 1974, it created a musical contract for our people and a voice to celebrate our wealth from toil, and nature’s gifts Of Beauty Rich and Rare. It captured the spirit of a pioneering nation, full of hope and optimism for the future.
But now, 42 years after adopting this national song, we find our leaders often at odds with its intent. The rarely performed second verse of the anthem anchors ideas about immigration, diversity and collaboration as key components of the Australian psyche.
It called upon us to open our hearts and toil courageously to share our land, and in doing so, making it great.
Of Beauty Rich and Rare is an Art Exhibition and Festival of Events by artists Maurice Goldberg and Matthew Aberline. It asks have we lost connection to the courageous vision of our national anthem?
Is its message of diversity, inclusion and collaboration more important than ever, or are the values simply out of date?
