Event description
As practitioners we've all come across 'difficult' topics in the therapy room and it's time we come together and talk about 'violence'

About this Event

The Australia Association of Family Therapy (AAFT) is hosting a series of discussion forums focusing on how to discuss 'difficult' topics in therapy. Our upcoming October discussion forum is on the topic of 'violence'. The forum will explore questions that practitioners may have asked themselves as to how they can better support clients who are experiencing violence in their lives. We have a panel of wonderful guest speakers who have experience working with children, adolescence, families and men in facing issues of violence. They will be sharing their experience and insight to the below questions that will be explored on the night:

  • How to work with violent adolescents?
  • Do we think and work differently with violent women as compared to working with violent men?
  • What do you do when you feel frightened by the client?
  • What do you do when you suspect violence but it is hidden?

This is a great opportunity for practitioners to come together, share knowledge, reflect and learn from each other to improve our own practice.
