Event description
WA is well-positioned to both: care for the seas and develop new industry opportunities. Join the conversation with expert Andrew Outhwaite.

About this Event

Humans, generally, and Geraldton residents, especially, depend on and love our oceans. Oceans provide food, produce oxygen, inspire adventure and are places for relaxation. At the same time as we value our oceans more, their health is declining.

Australia’s maritime territory is the third largest on earth and ‘Blue Economy’ is worth $68 billion (more than agriculture) yet as a whole has received limited attention.

Western Australia is extremely well-positioned to both: care for the seas, develop new industry opportunities, and help neighbouring nations who are facing similar challenges. Based on analysis of evidence, trends and WA’s industry capability, For Blue presents nine opportunities for WA institutions, innovators and new industries to lead, globally.

This session will provide an overview of WA’s strategic opportunities, linked to local case studies of projects and ventures already leading the way. From the arts to aquaculture, local adaptation to global governance, these opportunities will resonate with many audiences.
