Event description
Hike the sensational coastline and mountains of the Mid North Coast over 2 days. Fully guided with food and campsite is waiting for you.

About this Event

Our first day begins when we meet in the main shopping car park of the riverside town of Laurieton.

Day 1 will be all about the picturesque coastline. 10k distance (5 hours)

Diamond Head Beach is a standout destination - one of many glorious beaches on the Mid North Coast if NSW, and is the perfect showcase for what the sleepy town of Laurieton and the surrounding area has to offer.

You will experience a picture-perfect setting, with golden sandy beaches, pristine water and waves that are ideal for swimming in. It’s easily accessible by foot and is rich in both marine and shore-dwelling wildlife.

You may be lucky enough to see pods of dolphins as they frequent the waters just off the beach’s main strip. Whales can even be spotted during their annual migration season. The beach also boasts outstanding surfing conditions around the Diamond headland.

At the end of the day’s hike, you’ll be transported to the Diamond Waters Caravan Park, where our camp site will be waiting. We have a large supplie of tents, air mattress ready for you, however please bring your own blanket or sleeping bag and pillow.

When we arrive to the camp, kick off your shoes, grab a cold drink and sit back and relax.

Enjoy a tasty Aussie BBQ cooked by the Aussie Bike or Hike Staff.

(Note - BYO alcohol.)

Soft drinks, tea and coffee will be provided.

You’ll spend the night listening to the rolling ocean and sharing in some campsite conversation and relaxing music.

Get a good night’s sleep in anticipation of your big climb on Day 2.

Day 2

We will start today with a hearty breakfast and a hot cup of tea or coffee at the camp site made by one of our staff.

After fueling up for the day, its time to begin our hike up North Brother Mountain.

The summit of North Brother Mountain is 490 meters and offers superb views over the coastline, the lakes and the mouth of the Camden Haven River. You’ll also be able to see as far as Crowdy and Harrington, as well as Middle Brother and South Brother Mountains in the distance. This is one of Australia's most impressive coastal panoramas. On May 12th, 1770, Captain James Cook entered in his ship’s log a description of his experiences of the sailing of Laurieton and you can read an excerpt of this on a special plaque at the top of the mountain.

The area is characterised by large stands of rainforest, which are rich in native fauna and flora.

After catching your breath and taking in the magnificent views at the top, you will have 2 options. Jump in the van and have the friendly Aussie Bike or Hike crew drive you to the bottom of the mountain, or walk back down the mountainside with your tour guide (recommended).

The total of today's hike will be 8k return (3-4 hours)

Once at the bottom, our crew will transport you back to your car, where we will wave farewell and you head off home.
