Event description

Joint Roundtable | Safety

In 2016 we held a Safety Roundtable looking at Innovative Strategies for improving workplace safety. In this roundtable we plan to continue this theme with several key presentations from Ingredion, Moly-Cop and Lion.

The day will also involve opportunity for networking with likeminded safety professional and also structured sessions around what initiatives organisations are implementing or planning to implement in the area of OH&S. This will be an opportunity for you to share what you are doing, find out if others are doing similar and also what new initiatives others are involved with.

These are highly engaging events and an opportunity for you to keep abreast with your peers and what is happening within the SIRF membership community.

Presenter 1

This session is presented by Ingredion as part of our commitments made under an Enforceable Undertaking with SafeWork NSW.

In 2016 & 2017 Ingredion Lane Cove developed and conducted a Hand Safety Awareness Campaign to improve awareness of this key issue for workers on site. The Ingredion team will share the concept of the campaign and the steps required to deliver a successful campaign, including the multimedia tools utilised.

The campaign will be presented in the context of lessons learned by Ingredion following a hand safety incident in 2014.

Presenter 2

In 2016, Moly-Cop’s Rail Products business was experiencing a high number of crane & lifting related incidents. Almost every incident was the result of unsafe operating behaviours.

The Rail Products WHSE and Consultative Committee’s explored the opportunity for an emotive approach to try and change the behaviours.

A crane safety video was developed involving employees and their family members.

The result was an outstanding success and delivered the required outcomes. This initiative won MolyCop the Gold Safety Helmet award at the Hunter Safety Awards earlier this year.

MolyCop will walk us through their initiative and the significant behavioural changes that resulted.
