Overview
For the first AIIA NSW Sundowner event for 2026 we welcome Narelle Underwood, Executive Director Digital Strategy, Sourcing & Assurance in Digital NSW and Marina Troyak Director of Supplier Policy and Innovation Development at Digital NSW, Department of Customer Service.
This update will provide an overview on the work of the newly formed Digital Strategy, Sourcing & Assurance team in Digital NSW. In addition to leading the NSW Digital Strategy the newly formed entity provides investment advice and independent assurance on major ICT/digital programs, manages ICT/Digital procurement policy, governance frameworks, and all-of-government arrangements to optimise spend and value.
The Digital Strategy, Sourcing & Assurance team’s work embeds accessibility and inclusion in digital services and procurement practices and drives innovation-friendly models such as the Test and Buy Innovation to support responsible adoption of emerging technologies.

Narelle Underwood is the Executive Director Digital Strategy, Sourcing & Assurance in Digital NSW, part of the NSW Department of Customer Service. Previously Surveyor-General and Executive Director Spatial Services, Narelle has worked at the intersection of technology and regulation, delivering foundation spatial data services and transformation initiatives such as the NSW Spatial Digital Twin. Passionate about collaboration and innovation, she champions data-driven decision-making and capability uplift to enable trusted, future ready digital services for communities, business, and government.

Marina Troyak is Director of Supplier Policy and Innovation Development at Digital NSW, Department of Customer Service. She leads whole-of-government ICT sourcing policy, strategic change initiatives such as the Test and Buy Innovation program, supplier relationship management, and industry engagement. Marina focuses on agile, market-responsive procurement, responsible AI, and growing the local tech ecosystem.
With over 15 years’ experience in commercial negotiations, risk management, and policy optimisation, Marina has worked across government procurement, technology, and financial sectors with organisations including Unisys, Westpac, Zurich, and fintech start-ups.
