NSW Councils | Volunteer Leaders - Special Interest Group forum
Overview
The Council Special Interest Group is an initiative from the Centre of Volunteering to facilitate discussion amongst NSW Councils regarding working with volunteers.
These sessions are for those specifically working with volunteering programs for councils, as your opportunities, challenges and ways of working differ from many other volunteer involving organisations.
These networking sessions run quarterly, with a topic assigned to each meeting.
The topic for this meeting will be decided a couple of weeks prior to the meeting. If you have any issues you’d like to see addressed, please get in touch with the Education and Training Team at The Centre.
We will usually reach out to a subject matter expert to join us or invite showcases from participants to share their success stories.
The sessions will be chaired by the peak body of NSW, The Centre for Volunteering, and is exclusively for existing council workers who work with or manage volunteers.
The format will be an online Zoom meeting.
The session will be lightly facilitated and not heavily structured. We will talk through the challenges and opportunities in each area and work to share best practice procedures and policies and establish a support network for sharing ideas. A rough agenda for the forum can be found below:
- 1:00 pm - 1:20 pm - Introductions and initial discussion on Topic
- 1:20 pm - 1:40 pm – Subject matter expertise or participant showcase
- 1:40 pm - 1:45 pm - Questions
- 1:45 pm – 1:55 pm - Facilitated discussion about Topic- Pain points, challenges and solutions.
- 1:55 pm – 2:00 pm – Resources available and Close
We welcome future topic suggestions from attendees.
