Event Details

Some children who are bright find it difficult to succeed at school. There is something else going on that gets in the way of their learning or social development?

Learn more about why a bright child experiences some (or many) of these challenges and ways to help them:

Struggles with handwriting
Is very disorganised
Can be highly sensitive
Is easily distracted
Show keen visual skills and poor listening skills
Is highly creative, inventive, imaginative
Generates unusual solutions to problems
Has great ideas but rarely completes task
Reads well but is poor at spelling
Has difficulty following oral directions
Gets the correct answer in maths but can’t explain how
Is good at maths concepts but struggles with times tables

Spend a full day learning about giftedness. We will explore the main factors underlying underperformance by bright children, including motivation, processing difficulties, social and emotional factors and a visual spatial thinking strength. We will provide information on identification, discuss the strengths and weaknesses some students can experience and explore practical strategies for addressing these, both at home and at school.

The workshop will include a display of a range of books and resources that are useful for these students.

There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.

COST:      $95.00 per person   or $115.00 per couple (morning and afternoon tea provided) There are a few cafe's close by where lunch can be purchased.
