Description

Kokoda Historical is running a free training session in the Blue Mountains NSW. Come along and meet historian David Howell and enjoy a friendly and relaxed training and Kokoda information session. Although David is now Melbourne based, he grew up in the Blue Mountains where he discovered not only his passion for the great outdoors but also his passion for history. This is a great session if you are already training for Kokoda or if you want to find out more. There is no obligation to book with us just a great walk and a yarn. David will bring to life the history of not only Kokoda but of the many veterans he met growing up in the Blue Mountains. He will also recall local history of the Blue Mountains.

We will be walking the Vera Falls loop which is 6.7km loop, this scenic walk from Wentworth Falls Station, winds along the Nature Trail to Conservation Hut, then drops into the magnificent Valley of the Waters, before climbing to Lillians Glen and returning to the station.

Please prepare for all weather conditions. Your guide will carry both a satellite phone and a full medical kit. The cafe at Conservation Hut will be open but please bring snacks and or lunch along with a water bottle. You will need to wear good walking shoes.

We are meeting at Wentworth Falls Railway Station carpark, so there is ample parking or you can catch the train.

David will be on hand to give you advice on what to take and what to expect when trekking Kokoda. No need to be booked on any of our tours this is a free no obligation session. At the very least you will have a great day out and hopefully go away with a few fantastic yarns you can tell the family!
