NSW biodiversity draft legislation: community forum (Sydney North Shore)
Event Information
Description
Are you concerned about the changes proposed by the Baird government to our biodiversity and tree-clearing laws, and their expected impacts on our wildlife, soils and climate?
If so, please join us at this community forum and learn about the government's Biodiversity Conservation Bill 2016 and Local Land Services Amendment Bill 2016, which will replace the Native Vegetation Act and Threatened Species Conservation Act.
The new Bills are currently on public exhibition and submissions close on 28 June.
The forum will include a presentation on the contents and impacts of the draft legislation and will also focus on how individuals and community groups can take action to maintain and improve long-term protections for our wildlife and native bush.
Note: This meeting is part of a series of meetings being organised by the Nature Conservation Council of NSW and Total Environment Centre. Other meetings across Sydney will take place at Narrabeen (19 May), Sydney CBD (date TBC), Eastern Suburbs (date TBC), Gymea (date TBC), Parramatta (date TBC) and Manly (date TBC).
We hope to see you there.
Please share this event with your local networks - thanks!
