HypnoBirthing® is a childbirth education program that is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of childbirth education and preparation. Childbirth education plays an important role in preparing families for a positive outcome at this life changing event. HypnoBirthing® is now in 45 countries with fully certified and trained professional Gold Seal practitioners assisting couples in their desire to have a normal, calm and often pain free birth. With intervention rates at an all-time high in Australia, couples are seeking support from health professionals that trust birth and women’s ability to birth as nature intended. Building a strong network and community that works together will allow families to focus on positive birth outcomes and impact our ‘toward normal birth’ focus.
This program is a one-day workshop that provides traditionally trained doulas, midwives, nurses and physicians with the specific techniques and philosophical information needed to professionally support HypnoBirthing® couples in any birth setting.
Through participation in this workshop you will:
- Become the midwife, doula or obstetrician that HypnoBirthing couples request for their birth.
- Discover the unique benefits of HypnoBirthing.
- Learn how to support mums to have fewer interventions, less need for drugs and shorter labours.
- Be amazed by the power of Hypnosis and its role in childbirth.
- Understand how to help a women laboring remain calm and free of fear.
- Learn the language and terms of HypnoBirthing enabling you to communicate effectively with a HypnoBirthing couple
- Understand the HypnoBirthing partner’s integral role during birth.
- Discover the three HypnoBirthing breathing techniques and why they are so effective.
- Learn why some babies get ‘stuck’ and how to avoid this.
- Find out how HypnoBirthing is still very effective for couples experiencing special circumstances.

Founded by Marie Mongan in 1989, it teaches women and their partners to reconnect with their natural ability to birth, free from fear. With certified educators in 45 countries around the world, HypnoBirthing® empowers and educates birthing couples over a comprehensive five week, antenatal course. In Australia the HypnoBirthing® course, all teaching aids and materials have recently been updated so they are relevant to Australian couples and our local healthcare system.
About Alison Burton
Alison is an Occupational Therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist and certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner. She has had a passion for teaching mums how to manage the birth experience in a calm, relaxed and empowered way since she had her own babies over 30 years ago in Melbourne’s very first Family Birthing Centre. Alison was in the first HypnoBirthing® Practitioner training course in Melbourne in 2002 and has been teaching HypnoBirthing® in Doncaster East for the past 14 years with great success.
Alison runs a Natural Health Clinic in East Doncaster called Simply Natural Therapies, which currently has four Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioners as well as an integrated team of natural health practitioners. The Clinic runs several Hypnobirthing classes each month. These classes have featured in The Age, The Herald Sun and local media and Alison was recently interviewed by Kaz Jaffe from Mum’s the Word.
Alison has previously presented Midwife Education sessions at Mitcham Private Hospital, Box Hill Hospital and Cabrini with wonderful feedback.
