Event description

Description

For our last meeting of the year WAFTA presents a Sunday Afternoon Tea, alongside the fabulous movie, The First Monday in May!

Each year, on the first Monday in May, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York opens its doors to host the biggest event on the fashion calendar, The Met Gala, the opening night party to the Costume Institutes annual fashion exhibition.

THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY follows Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton, as they orchestrate the years most lavish party and The Mets most attended fashion exhibition in history, China: Through The Looking Glass. With unprecedented access, filmmaker Andrew Rossi offers an exclusive all-access pass to the creation of the exhibition that explores China's substantial influence on Western fashion.

Featuring legendary film and fashion creatives including Wong Kar Wai, Baz Luhrmann, Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier and Andr Leon Talley, and intimate access to contemporary pop icons like Rihanna, THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY explores whether fashion should be viewed as art and captures the creativity, passion, and inspiration behind the exhibition and gala.

Entry tickets may be purchased by WAFTA members only, but you are very welcome to buy tickets for any guests you would like to bring along - please quote your WAFTA membership number.
