Notre-Dame de Paris (full title: Notre-Dame de Paris, 1482) is a historical novel by the French writer Victor Hugo, published in 1831.
Perth French Theatre is proud to present an original adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic 19th-century novel Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), performed in French with English surtitles.
Set in medieval Paris, this is the story of Quasimodo, the widely-feared bell-ringer at Notre-Dame Cathedral; the orphaned gypsy Esmeralda; and people from all classes of society from beggars to the bourgeoisie. Our production stays true to Victor Hugo with most dialogue taken directly from his text (no Disney musical numbers here!), but we've added our own twists with an original ending and narration by a trio of wise-cracking gargoyles.
With beautiful music, costumes and decor to transport you into another time and place, this new production will enchant French and English speakers alike.
There are four performances only and seats are strictly limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
