From starting as a theatre usher whilst studying, to now being Chief Operating Officer for the Wallis Cinema group, Ben will take us on his continuous journey through the change in the cinema industry and highlight some of the things that are driving success in the business including the recent decision to purchase the Gawler Cinema.

About Ben

Ben loves living in the Adelaide Hills.

He went to Mt Barker High School then Flinders University- completed Bachelor of Arts- studying to be a teacher.

At the same time, he started at Wallis Cinemas Mt Barker when it opened in 2004 as a usher.

Since then cinema has been his life and he has seen the closure of cinemas, opening and purchase of new ones, been a back up projectionist, taken the role of cinema manager, seen the advent of online ticket sales, the change from film to digital, the introduction of stronger HR requirements and the journey through COVID.
