Teachers Can Code

The Teachers Can Code professional learning program is a Department of Education initiative facilitated by the Australian Computing Academy (ACA). The program will support public school teachers across WA to implement the Western Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies (WAC). The program consists of a series of 16 professional learning modules which cover all aspects of Digital Technologies, including the key concepts, coding and data skills, projects and assessment.

This module is an introduction to data representation and abstraction, and provides a set of free classroom resources and activities to teach these concepts, both in primary and secondary school.

Who Should Attend?

  • Primary and secondary teachers looking to improve their understanding of the Digital Technologies curriculum

  • Teachers and technology leaders seeking resources to support the implementation of the curriculum

Objectives

  • In this module, teachers will:

    • explore the key concept and vocabulary of algorithms

    • explore where algorithms are used in other learning areas and in society

    • understand how algorithms can be presented as a flowchart and structured English

    • participate in a range of classroom activities.
