Event Details

Join Australia and CounterAct for a two day workshop on the use of effective nonviolent direct action in the fight against the fossil fuel industry.

This workshop comes as we are preparing to welcome 30 Pacific Climate Warriors to Australia this October. The Warriors are here to peacefully stand up to Australia's fossil fuel industry for its role in the climate change that threatens the future of their homes. More on their visit here.

During the Pacific Warriors visit, groups across the country will be taking action against the fossil fuel in solidarity with the Pacific. During the training you will hear how you can take the theory of NVDA and put it in to practice during this and other campaigns. This workshop will be useful for folks new to nonviolent direct action and those who want to gain the skills of an action facilitator.

Saturday the 13th and Sunday 14th October (first session from 10am Saturday)

CommonGround - a beautiful community space near the town of Seymour (1 hour train ride from Southern Cross).

Getting there

When you book we'll ask you to specify how you plan to get to CommonGround:

- Train - regular services from Southern Cross Station to Seymour. Pickup from Seymour will be arranged

- Carpool - offer a car or indicate you'd like to travel with someone

- Make your own way.

Lunch and Dinner will be provided on the Saturday and Breakfast and Lunch on the Sunday.
