Event description

Description

Professor Yin Paradies, Coordinator Indigenous Knowledges and Culture, has called this meeting for Faculty staff (especially non-Indigenous staff) who are interested in opportunities for support, networking and collaboration in relation to teaching, research or service work focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander topics or communities.

The Indigenous Knowledges and Culture Coordinator is a Deakin-wide role designed to build a cohesive network that leads and informs practice, teaching, research and curriculum in Indigenous Knowledges and Culture across Deakin. The coordinator advances, evaluates and reviews university wide strategies, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Higher Education Agenda and the Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Plan. The coordinator works closely with the Institute of Koorie Education to build research and teaching and advise on future curriculum development and curriculum relating to Indigenous matters across all of Deakin, while also working towards making Deakin the most inclusive and safe place culturally for everyone.
