Event description

Description

Food waste is a huge human and environmental issue, causing millions to go unnecessarily hungry and significantly contributing to climate change. In Australia, 4 million tonnes of food ends up as landfill. 35% of the average household bin is food waste, which in landfill causes 8% of the greenhouse gases heating the planet. Almost half of all fruit and vegetables produced globally are wasted.

Food waste can seem like an overwhelming issue to tackle, but one step we can take is in our own kitchens. Come along to our cooking workshop on Friday the 28th of September to learn from the Co-op chef how to reduce your food waste, from shopping and recipe choices to cooking techniques. You’ll also get to eat the food you cook for dinner afterwards!

This event is FREE and open to everyone due to support from the ANU Learning Communities, but there are only 15 places so get in quick!! Please make sure to email gabriela.freeman@anu.edu.au with some notice if you believe you can no longer make it, to ensure that your spot can be given to someone else. Feel free to contact with any enquiries, and please indicate any dietary requirements in your registration.
