Event description

Description

A celebration of Mexican Folk Art, Nichos are bold colourful shrines/devotional alters to honour the dearly departed. Design, construct and adorn your Nicho's in a traditional or pop art theme under the expert guidance of artist Tara Brooks from Catus Head Studio.

The perfect addition to your home, a nicho shadow box shrine is always a special space, a little world unto itself with its own story. The subject might be a patron saint or the iconic Frida! Decorate with hearts, wings or sugar skulls, this workshop is designed to be as individual as you are. Never short of glitter, sequins, tin, collage paper, paint, wood, glass and found objects you will learn the techniques and application of them all!

WHAT I WILL LEARN

How to design, construct and decorate your Nichos in traditional and pop art styles using a variety of mixed media

WHAT I WILL BRING

All materials will be provided. Please consider attire as the session involves colouring tin and liberal use of glitter!

This session promises to have you ready to celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Halloween!
