Event description
Learn ancient land management principles and develop innovative ideas to protect our lands, waters, sacred sites and cultural heritage.

About this event

In keeping with the 2021 NAIDOC theme of ‘Heal Country’ and the call to seek greater protections for our lands, waters, sacred sites and cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction, the South East Tasmanian Aboriginal Corporation and weetapoona Aboriginal Corporation are hosting the NGUNE (fire) - Healing Country Festival.

The Festival will showcase Aboriginal knowledges, such as Fire Stick Burning and demonstrate our relationship with the land, developed over millennia. Festival goers will have the opportunity to learn about environmental issues impacting our landscape, flora and fauna and how Aboriginal practices can benefit our Nation.

Fire demonstrations, Story telling, bonfire, Aboriginal dancing, music entertainment - Not to be missed.

NGUNE calls on all Australians to collaborate meaningfully with Aboriginal people to learn new ways to support and strengthen land management principles, develop innovative ideas and increase access to information, knowledge and tools, in an effort of reconciliation and shared responsibility.

We hope that you will join us!
