Description

The New Year is traditionally a time for making health resolutions. ​This is a 6-week Beginners Course for complete beginners or those who decide to be back on the mat after a while. You will know the gentle variations of yoga poses that suit your needs while building strength and flexibility. This step-by-step course will let you know how to take good care of yourself in yoga classes, especially if you live with some chronic conditions, like back pain, knee pain, etc. It's important to make stretching a habit. The course fee includes 1 beginner yoga session, plus 3 general classes per week. If you join 4 classes a week, it will be as low as $7.5 per class.
Details of 6-week Beginners Course is as follows:

Week 1:

  • What is Hatha Yoga?
  • Standing and seated postures
  • Importance of body alignments
  • Injuries prevention in yoga class

Week 2:

  • Revision of week 1
  • Sun salutation sequences and gentle variations
  • Foundations of balance
  • Breathing exercise

Week 3:

  • Revisions of week 1 -2
  • Warrior Sequences and gentle variations
  • Building body strength
  • Mindfulness practice

Week 4:

  • Revisions of week 1 -3
  • Back bend and forward bend
  • Maintaining flexibility
  • Breathing exercise

Week 5:

  • Revisions of week 1 -4
  • Upside down: shoulderstand/ handstand variations
  • Upper body strength
  • Mindfulness practice

Week 6:

  • General class
  • Breathing exercise
  • What’s next?
  • Tips for home practice
