Imagine this ...

Arriving at the venue, you pass by a pepper tree, lavender bushes, lanterns and chimes. People are bringing vegetarian snacks to share. Some are registering at the door while others are drinking a chai. Can you feel the good vibes?

The main hall has large cushions scattered about, skirted by freestanding chairs. You find a comfortable seat. You're feeling relaxed and among friends. Everyone settles into silence and natural meditation. Soon Jarek takes the stage, and the main event begins. The music sounds contemporary and melodic. You can hear influences from the 60s, along with the call and response style of kirtan chanting.

Jarek's music has a universal flavour. Most of the lyrics and mantras in English. His chants also include words in Sanskrit and various spiritual traditions. The focus is always on inner peace, love and spiritual awakening. Some of Australia's finest instrumentalists will be playing accompaniment. Instruments include acoustic guitar, bass, percussion, and mixed voices.

Looking around, you notice people moving or dancing. Some sit in meditation, while others recline on the floor. Almost everyone is singing. After each chant, there is a profound silence for a few timeless minutes. Eventually, the gentle ebb and flow of the coloured lighting draws your attention back to your senses. You notice the sweet aroma of chai announcing intermission.

Periods of socialising punctuate the group singing throughout the evening. During the breaks, people chat and share their supper snacks indoors or out in the garden. The evening ends with a meditation for peace, accompanied by waves of OM chanting. You are one of the waves on this ocean of sound, lapping at the shores of bliss. It's the New Year and the time to go home is drawing near, but you want to stay.

Meet the founder Jarek Czechowicz

Jarek Czechowicz, pronounced Yarrek Che'hovich, leads this event. He is a guitarist, chant leader, and founder of New Year's Eve Chanting Meditation. Jarek creates words and music for spiritual awakening. He performs chants and mantras that embrace you with a feeling of love. His intuitive improvisations soothe your soul. And he offers guided meditations to fill you with a sense of inner peace and freedom. His work is a spiritual teaching through music. Publications as diverse as Living Now magazine and BRW have featured Jarek's work.

Be uplifted with Universal Chanting

Universal chanting involves singing enlightening words and mantras. Get ready to repeat the mantra together with everyone else. Jarek composes his mantras in a contemporary western style. They are almost effortless to sing. Perfect for people who enjoy social singing and a spiritual environment.

Discover the power of Contemporary Kirtan

Contemporary kirtan is a call and response style of chanting. The leader sings the chant, and the audience responds. You don't have to be a great singer to join in. This type of group singing is easy and produces a feeling of joy.

Follow your bliss with Ecstatic Chanting

Ecstatic chanting can lead to an experience of bliss. The effect is often achieved by starting at a slow or medium pace and speeding up. However, it can also happen when you resonate with a particular melody or mantra.

Get Energised with Active Meditation

Active Meditation is the state of total absorption in an activity. The music helps you enter a state of meditation. While absorbed in the chant, all distracting thoughts are absent. And no effort is necessary to exclude distractions.

Visit your inner sanctuary with Natural Meditation

Natural Meditation is a natural state of mental clarity. It becomes more noticeable in the silence after a chant. Or after some other form of active meditation. This experience can give you a benchmark against which you can gauge your future meditation sessions and awakening experiences.

Express your divine qualities with Sacred Sound

Sacred Sound is a conscious use of sound to express divinity or spiritual awakening. The sound OM or AUM is the most ancient of such sounds. The silence after OM chanting symbolises that which is inexpressable.

Enhance your wellbeing with Music Meditation

Music Meditations include spontaneous melodies and harmonies, or pitched and unpitched sounds. Music Meditation includes sound healing, soundscapes, and sounds of nature. The aim is to soothe, comfort and bathe you in a healing experience to makes your meditation easy. And to help lead you into a more profound state of meditation.

Feel the deep peace of Flowing OM Chanting

Everyone chants OM together, each at their own pace and pitch. This style of chanting acknowledges the individuality of each participant. And in totality, the group creates divine waves of blissful and healing sound. By midnight you will have all the inspiration needed to create the wondrous new year that you deserve.
