Register and attend this 2-day course to best prepare for the new Year 12 Physics syllabus through this hands-on workshop, accredited by STANSW and endorsed by NESA.




Day 1: Year 12 Theory for the New Physics Syllabus (Thursday 30th August 2018)

This course is aimed at helping Stage 6 Physics teachers learn the theory in the new Year 12 Physics syllabus. In particular, we will unpack the physics behind the new content. We will be examining:

  • Advanced Mechanics

  • Electromagnetism

  • The Nature of Light

  • From the Universe to the Atom

  • Opportunities for Depth Studies

In addition, we will reflect on the progress of teaching the new Year 11 syllabus.




Day 2: Year 12 Experiments for the New Physics Syllabus (Friday 31st August 2018)

This course is aimed at helping teachers successfully run experiments for the new Year 12 Physics syllabus. We will be examining a variety of experiments including how to use the equipment appropriately and safely. Opportunities for Depth Studies will be shared and performed. In addition, we will reflect on the progress of running experiments for the new Year 11 syllabus.

The activities incorporated will cover the new content, in particular:

  • Angular Frequency

  • Spectroscopy

  • Diffraction

  • Malus' Law

  • Millikan's Experiment

Completing Day 1: CrookED Science's Year 12 Theory for the New Physics Syllabus on 30th August will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD, addressing 1.5.2, 2.5.2, 3.2.2 and 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Completing Day 2: CrookED Science's Y12 Physics Experiments for the New Physics Syllabus on 31st August will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD, addressing 1.2.2; 2.6.2; 4.4.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
