About this event
The New England North West Regional Plan is one of nine strategic plans covering each region in the state. The Plan has a 20-year horizon, and sets the framework, vision and direction for strategic planning and land use, planning for future needs for housing, jobs, infrastructure, a healthy environment and connected communities.
The New England North West region comprises the local government areas of Armidale Regional, Glen Innes Severn, Gunnedah, Gwydir, Inverell, Liverpool Plains, Moree Plains, Narrabri, Tamworth Regional, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha.
The next 20 years will be an exciting period of change for the New England North West. Increased global demand for food and resources, new technology and enhanced connectivity will create opportunities for the region. It is important that the Plan is now reviewed and updated to reset priorities and direction to ensure that it continues to support all the communities and opportunities across the New England North West Region.
The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has been undertaking a comprehensive review of the Regional Plan throughout 2021 and an important step in the review process is speaking with communities and stakeholders across the region.
The draft Plan is on exhibition to 11.59pm Friday 18 February 2022. To help finalise the review of the New England North West Regional Plan, we want to talk with as many local communities as possible, to get your insights and ideas about the future of your region.
