Event description

Description

Join us for a unique Education Seminar looking at why we should include the Occular Vestibular System into our rehab.

• What happens to our mechanosensory system when it’s been compromised through injury, disease or old age?

• How much attention do we pay to the body’s ‘central processor’, which coordinates our movement?

• How can we influence the afferent information, especially when it has been compromised through injury or pathology?

• Use of External vs Internal focus.

• Paradigm shift to Functional Rehabilitation

• Learn the importance of early Proprioception and Perturbation Training.

• Useful for Post-up Rehabilitation, Sports Injuries and Prevention, Concussion Management, Neurology, Falls Prevention.

Learn how the latest rehab techniques and technology (incl. Chattanooga HUBER 360) are used to ‘Train the Brain’, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing our rehabilitation.

SPEAKER:

Cliff Eaton
MSc BSC (Hons) MCSP

Cliff Eaton has spent his career working in professional sport at an elite level. He has had works published in internationally recognised Journals on Sport Specific Rehabilitation. He believes in the three core skills advocated by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists: Manual Therapy, Exercise Therapy and Electrotherapy. By combining these three core skills into a patient’s recovery and a return to activities of daily living, he considers to be essential in providing the best medical care for

patients. More recently he has become very interested in rehabilitation to ‘Train the Brain’. He has written a course on Occular-vestibular Kinetic Integration Therapy (OK-IT). Due to trauma, pathology or aging the somatosensory system becomes compromised. We then become more reliant on our Occular-Vestibular system to provide proprioceptive information for optimal balance and posture.
