Neurodivergence, Autism and ADHD: Understanding to Action - 3 Hour Workshop

Who is the Workshop For?

Teachers, caregivers, disability workers, social workers, youth workers, case workers, support workers, professionals and practitioners who support, teach or care for children and young people with backgrounds of neurodiversity and trauma.

Key Content

• Understanding what is neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, FASD and intellectual disability (including diagnoses).
• Understanding the developmental context (how and why) of neurodivergence, Autism, FASD and ADHD
• Adopting a personalised, growth-focused and intentional approach to understanding and responding to children and young people with backgrounds of neurodiversity.
• Understanding the ‘spiky’ developmental profile of neurodivergence.
• Understanding what is under the surface and the core developmental "needs".
• The shared and individualised best-practice growth intents for neurodiversity, ADHD and Autism.
• The foundations and features of the neuro-affirming safe base (relationship focused strategies).
• Intentional responses (not reactive) for children at different points of the escalation wave.
• Specific best-practice strategies for children and young people with backgrounds of neurodiversity.

Facilitators

The session will be delivered by two LBI Foundation presenters with significant experience in working with children and young people with backgrounds of trauma and neurodiversity.

Additional Information

This workshop is a Specialist Application Module of the broader IMPACT Program. Participants completing the workshop will be invited to complete an online accreditation process and receive a certificate linked to their LBI learning record.
