Description

As part of our end of year celebration NECTAR is joining forces with the joint colleges of Science Early Career Development Scheme to present the first early-mid career conference. Theme for this year is:

Collaboration across boundaries.

Collaborations led by Early-Mid Career Academics which span across the boundaries of disciplines and institutions are now being funded by innovative schemes, such as the ANU Grand Challenges Scheme. The idea that solutions to the world’s problems are more likely to come out of such diverse collaborations is growing (ANU strategic plan 2017-21). ANU is actively seeking the Early-Mid Career Academics who have what it takes to lead the future.

Program:

10-12pm Building industry collaborations and finding category 2 funding – a panel discussion and workshop.

12pm -1pm Poster session and art exhibition, with canapé lunch and end of year drinks. This exhibition will showcase early-mid career researchers from ANU and invited industry and government participants who are interested in ‘collaboration across boundaries’. Opened by Professor Imelda Whelehan. Judged by industry representatives.

1pm - 1.45 Early Career researchers who link with industry and government are the leaders of the future. A talk with Professor Brian Schmidt followed by award ceremony.

This will be the first NECTAR Early – Mid Career Conference - open to all early-mid career Academics of ANU and to invited external participants.

Early – mid career Researchers and teachers from ANU and other invited institutions can exhibit their posters, but there will be limited places available. Everyone can come to view them and enjoy the free canapés and drinks at the exhibition opening (please register).

Register posters/exhibitions by 27th September to go in the running to present a poster (limited placements, first in best placed).

Family members are actively encouraged to attend. We aim to make this event as inclusive as possible so if there is a barrier (such as child care) that prevents you from attending please get in touch.
