Description

As a follow up to our previous session on the art of meditation, Urban Yoga decided to have a think tank session on the necessity of meditation. Now that we know HOW to meditate, it is essential to know WHY to meditate.

Many scientists are now observing the benefits of meditation on the brain and the way it functions. There is much evidence that illustrates how the act of meditation can actually positively impact the grey matter of the brain, which is associated with memory, sense of self, empathy and stress. Previous studies have also illustrated positive association between attention spans and reduced blood pressure with performing meditation.

Bhakta Das, a bhakti yogi and a chaplain, who has practised and experienced differet types of meditation practices, including transcedental meditation and mantra meditation, is joining us to fill us in on the need to meditate.
