Welcome & Arrival
Participants sign in, receive their aprons and name tags, and settle into the workshop space. Support workers are welcomed, and light background music helps create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere as everyone gets comfortable.
Introductions & Icebreaker
The facilitator and Chef Tim Gatt introduce themselves and outline the purpose of the workshop. Participants are invited to share why they joined—whether to build in-home skills or explore hospitality as a job pathway—as well as a little about their interests. A short safety overview is provided to prepare everyone for the session.
Hand Hygiene & Food Safety
Participants learn the importance of proper hand hygiene through a live demonstration of correct handwashing techniques. Core food safety principles are explained, including cross-contamination, temperature control, and general hygiene expectations. Participants then practise handwashing before moving to their stations.
