Event description
This NCSS Introductory Session for Leaders is designed for Church Authorities accompanied by members of their leadership teams.

About this Event

This session is usually delivered face to face, but given physical distancing restrictions due to COVID-19, we have now brought this session fully online. The NCSS Introductory Session for Leaders will now be made up of three modules, each delivered in part via webinar and in part using video-conferencing so that participants can interact and we can maintain active engagement and provide opportunities for live Q&A – both of these elements have been valued aspects of our face to face training, so we are seeking to preserve these as we transition to an online format.

Participation in all three modules will meet the requirements under the NCSS and will result in the issuing of a Certificate of Attendance which you can provide to your entity.

This NCSS Introductory Session for Leaders is designed for Church Authorities (bishops, leaders of religious institutes, trustees of ministerial PJPs), accompanied by members of their leadership teams.

It is a requirement of the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards that all Church Authorities who are signatories to a Service Agreement with CPSL participate in this Introductory Session (Standard 5: Robust human resource management; Criterion 5.3 requires that personnel receive an appropriate induction and are aware of their child safeguarding responsibilities, including reporting obligations; Indicator 5.3.2 states ‘All Church Authorities (along with members of their leadership team) who are signatories to a Service Agreement with Catholic Professional Standards Ltd participate in the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards Introductory Session for Leaders within 4 months of commencement’).

This session is specifically designed for Church Authorities and relevant senior leaders to develop a clear understanding of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding generally, their responsibilities under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards specifically and the detail and processes of the CPSL audit and reporting framework.

This session is an introduction to the NCSS and has a particular focus on governance, responsibilities and leadership.
